Man Charged Over Stabbing At Bolton Point

A man is due to face court today accused of stabbing another during a fight at Bolton Point.

Police say a four men became involved in an altercation outside a home on Threkeld Drive just after 3.30 on Wednesday afternoon - but it quickly escalated with a 25-year-old man allegedly stabbing a 41-year-old twice in the torso with a knife.

A 47-year-old man was also taken to the John Hunter Hospital after being hit over the head with a hammer - both victims are reported to be in a stable condition.

Police say the younger man fled but was later arrested at Toronto Police Station.

He's been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Thursday) charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
