Woman Slams Car Into Metford House During Pursuit

BY IAN CROUCH

A woman is facing serious charges after she crashed into a house at Metford while being chased by police.

Officers tried to pull over the 22-year-old disqualified driver in Chelmsford Drive just after midnight, but she took off, lost control and slammed into the garage of the home in Shank Drive.

The house suffered extensive damage, however no-one was home at the time.

Inspector Peter Vromans says the woman fled on foot but was arrested a short distance away.

"She's currently at Maitland Police Station assisting with inquiries, but she's expected to be charged with a number of offences including fail to stop during a pursuit (Skye's law), being a disqualified driver, possessing prohibited drugs and resisting police," he said.
